FTL Promotion
Full-Time Lecturers (FTLs) are subject to Initial Initialand Periodic Evaluations, but FTLs can also go through Promotion Evaluations in order to apply for promotion or for the Lecturer III Salary Adjustment. This workshop discusses the timeline as well as the portfolio elements FTLs need to develop for promotional purposes. Further details on FLT Promotions can be found here.
PTL evaluation
There are two basic types of evaluation: Initial Evaluations, which are conducted in the second semester of employment and Periodic Evaluations, which are conducted every three years or in every fourth semester, whichever comes later. This workshop discusses the details for both types as well as deadlines and materials needed to be submitted. For additional information on PTL Evaluation, check here.
Student Debt Clinic
The Student Debt Clinic addresses one of the most crippling realities of our profession: large student debt with little relief from according income in sight. The workshop discusses several free federal program that may lower monthly payment and lead to loan forgiveness.
unemployment
Usually offered at the end of the Fall and/or Winter semester, this workshop provides an overview of unemployment benefits for Part-time Lecturers. It also provides help navigating the Michigan Labor and Economic Opportunity - Unemployment Insurance Agency site.
External Workshops EMUFT members also have access to other workshop opportunities through AFT Michigan and the New Deal for Higher Education. Many of these workshops center around improving working conditions for those in education.
