Dr. John Ouko

Title: Full-Time Lecturer, History & Philosophy

Years @ EMU: 8 years

Why Did You Become an Educator? In college, I came across academics who really helped to open up this world for me. They helped us (students) enlarge our creative power and our conception of what is possible, enriched our intellectual imagination, and made us critical co-investigators in dialogue with them. I really admired these academics and wanted to play these roles in the lives of students.

Favorite Class You Teach @ EMU: All these classes: Philosophy & Society, Philosophy of Religion, Medical Ethics, and Global Ethics. I also enjoy teaching Introduction to Philosophy.

What Is Something You Enjoy About EMU? EMU is a beautiful campus. I enjoy walking around campus. Also, EMU is quite diverse and I enjoy meeting different people.ing colleagues, etc. are what make the difference.

Surprising Facts About You: I run at least one thousand miles in a single calendar year.
